				 |  Indian axe ? now think maybe sudanese ? 
			
			Im no expert , but first glance i thought maybe indian axe but now im wondering could it be sudanese ? bronze/brass axe head with leather bound shaft and silver decoration , any info would be appreciated |

			I think you are right Sudan.  What makes me think so is not just the blade but the middle white metal/silver piece.   The same form of decoration is frequently seen on Kaskara hilts.

			Your axe is from Darfur. Auctions Imperial sold one of this form named to Sultan Ali Dinar of Darfur (r. 1891-1916) in 2018. Interesting that this type is very similar to examples depicted on Egyptian stelae.

			If the head of the axe is unusually small it could well be a Jerz axe from Oman.

			Its not a Jerz axe from Musandam .  There is evidence that Musandam axes are related to Luristan axes and also from axes from the Omani Wahiba desert region....but no link is noted from other regions. Forum notes these links.  Peter Hudson. |
