				 | Old Helmets

Hello Everyone, I would be grateful for any info such as origin and age of two of the three helmets I am posting. Like most of my collection I have had these three helmets for some considerable time being given them by an Antique dealer friend who provided me with various weapons over the years. They all suffered varying degrees of rust besides damage to chains etc. Having read estcrh thread on rust removal by electrolysis I decided to give it a go and the photos show the helmets before and after electrolysis. Helmet No 1:- This I believe is an Egyptian Khedive Guard helmet, missing roundels, chain and liner etc. I would be greatful to learn where I might be able to obtain a pair of roundels. Helmet No 2:- I don't know the origin, it may be Sudanese but I don't Know. Helmet No 3:- I think this my be Indian but am not sure. This one is in a bad state having been restored in a fashion by a previous owner, some of the restoration bing destroyed in the rust removal process. It was severely rusted and the chains are very tatty. Will give me something to do during the winter Helmet No 1:- |

You're correct that 2 and 3 are Sudanese and Indian, respectively. Both date to approximately the mid-19th century.
