It was my lucky day at the gun show. I think I found a Kalasan from Sumatra. At least that is what my research suggests. What do you all think?

Any idea of age? O.A. length is about 31 inches. Looks like silver on the handle. Not sure about the scabbard bands. hilt is horn. The Choil at the base of the blade is killer. Not sure its called a Choil on these. Stephen* ![]() ![]()

!! A very beautiful kalasan!! I think that the hilt is a SUKUL NGANGA type, according to Van Z. Congratulations

Thanks guys. I've been going to shows for years and haven't been so lucky. If I did find pieces they were way overpriced. Guess I've been a good boy lately.

I can't help but notice, that the blade is similar in shape to that of a Flyssa. The swell is closer to the tip, yes, but there is a striking similarity. Interesting I think. Whats the deal with the "choil"? Its so interesting. What a minute. I just had an thought, ouch. The "choil" is very much like the part of the Keris called the Greneng. Interesting. Good catch, Naga Warrior. Did you pick this up at the Riverside Show.
