Ok, not a keris, but I liked it so much that I bought it.

This particular example could have come from Riau, according to a friend with some interest in such artifacts. Carvers who make keris hilts and sheaths don't have that many kerises to work on for a livelihood. So, apart from making those, they usually do some other work, which could include residential decor projects, and things like this. Of course this quail trap takes 2 craftsmen to make - one carver, one weaver. |
