Mishmi tribe sword
A second one acquired this year.
A mishmi tribe sword, also known as "Deng from Tibet and Aruchanal Pradesh". Those peoples were head hunters, and slave sellers. My informations on that one are scarce. Wood seems lacquered, there is dyed human hair, an old red inventory number on the hilt (sadly fadded), and an interesting rattan work. Complete sword with belt, blade is a little bent from the quenching process, hairpin, and razor sharp. Again, have a great day, Julien |

Great - looks original and not messed with. Dimensions, please! The blade deserves a full polish and very gentle etch, IMO. BTW, are you sure the hair is human not goat? Regards, Kai |

That is something you do not see often. The rectangular pommel is very distinctive. I find the complexity of the scabbard design interesting too. There is another example like this one in the old Oriental Arms site. Edit: Guessing other folks would be interested I went ahead and uploaded the Oriental Arms photo here, as well as one more from Mandarin Mansion of a Bhutanese sword with the Mishni style scabbard.
