These Luzon bolos are the latest additions to my collection. All three of these I think have very interesting hilts, not the standard flat steel or brass ones usually found on bolos of this type. The brass one looks to be cast and possibly salvaged off of some decorative item while the two steel guards are not just the flat pieces of steel that are common on most. I especially like the one with the ends curled to form the quillon tips. I believe that all three of these are late 19th or early 20th century in age. Unfortunately none of these came with a scabbard. All comments and any additional information on these would be greatly welcomed.

			Hello Robert,

again very nice bolos, I like the one with the wire around the handle. We have already the "Tito Gunong" and you are maybe the "Tito Bolo". Regards, Detlef |

Detlef and Dimasalang, Thank you both for your kind words. The last bolo in this thread has another peculiar thing about it. Both of the steel bands are held together by tabs instead of being soldered or brazed, something I have only seen on the horn wrappings done on the scabbards of some Visayan pieces. Has anyone else seen this done before??? Here is a picture that shows this better.
