				 | Lurus translation assistance required

A very long standing piece in my collection, this fine old Lurus has always held my interests. What I've never explored is the translation... can anyone offer insights please. With thanks |

Thank you Amuk. Do you feel the material supports this date? Or referring to a point in time? https://www.scribd.com/document/2767...MAJANG-in-1767 I ask as the poor image attached may not reveal much but it is very much this rulers face to me. http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showpo...26&postcount=6 With thanks Gavin |

Gavin, i think many rulers will have a somewhat similar look. Images i have seen of Paku Buwono VII for instance, has a very similar look to his descendant PB IX. A possible important element for identifying or dating this could be the the figure of the hilt stands atop a water buffalo. While i cannot add any information based upon this "clue" perhaps others can. BTW, seems to be a beautiful pedang lurus. Can you show the blade? That might also aid in dating it. |
