Hi Kino, please show the whole weapon. It is Sudanese but is it an axe or throwing knife? looks very interesting. Raja translated a Sundanese axe for me a year or so back.I will repost it latter in this thread to compare. Tim.

			Hello Kino,

The first pic, the inscription on the right says "What God Wills", on the left is says "There is only one god, and no strength nor will is with one other than god". On the second pic, the inscription on the right reads "A victory from god and conquest is close at hand". Sorry, I cannot read the inscription on the left. Its a bit unclear. |

			Hello,

Your welcome andrew, Tim, the pics you just supplied are way too small to be read. I need pictures that are slightly bigger. |

Hello M.Carter- a thousand thank you's for the translation. I greatly appreciate it.

Tim- I was told that it was perhaps Sudanese in origin, thank you for confirming it. As per your request, the image of the whole weapon. Dimensions OAL 19.5", widest area 7.25", some sort of reptile skin around the handle area. |

Hi M Carter, I hope these will be big enough. Then some clever person could add the smaller pictures for the archive. Tim

			Hello Tim,

In the first pic you posted, the top and bottom inscription both read "What God Wills, Happens" The Inscription on the right reads "God" The inscription on the left reads "Muhammad" The inscription in the center says "And we gave you an astounding conquest", which I believe is a verse from the qur'an. The second pic, the cartouche reads "What god wills". I believe the weapons you have here, according to Anthony C. Tirri's "Islamic Weapons, Maghrib to Moghul" are Sudanese copies of Persian weapons, check page 75 for further referance. |
