Default Talibon variant

Greetings folks. Here are pics of a tailbon variant that just ended. The blade is typical tailbon/garab shape, but the wood hilt with bronze fittings is different.

Yup, that's nice. I'm postulating that it's Samar or Leyte-origin, because there have been provenanced Samar or Leyte sundang with a similar hilt; they also added a pin to higher-rank sundang. I'm also postulating it's WW2 era, because the "shield" guard was popular during that time, plus its relatively long blade length (22in). Although a friend of mine believes it could also be from Bohol or Negros Oriental (both of which also had pinned WW2-era blades).

Nice sword Jose. Is it coming to live with you?

I agree with Xastrix that this is likely WWII vintage for the reasons he stated. A few other features that suggest WWII or later include the following. The thickness of the blade at the hilt is less than the shorter, older forms and there is no scooped out, small area of the spine adjacent to the hilt that might be used as a thumb rest. Also, the spine of the blade is not concave and the hilt does not tilt down much relative to the spine, both of which are commonly seen on older garab examples.
