Interesting example David!
Regardless of being modern, it is exemplary of the traditions of edged weapon in Mexico carried forth from the Spanish colonial period and still faithfully followed. What is always fascinating with Mexican knives is often the colorful inscriptions and meaningful phrasing etc. on the blades.
i.e. from the bite of this scorpion, there is no medicine. ..and others.

This example with eagle head is relatively modern, from the knife making centers in Guerrero. The needle point is what is referred to in Mexican parlance (on espada anchas as well) as 'scorpion' point.
