Well, i'd say this cracked blade does. LOL! ;)

My personal feeling about keris is that they should always be kept in their sheath when not being viewed. Many collectors wrap their keris in plastic so as not to have the metal in constant contact...

Nyai Mbok would be an honorific meaning a senior/elder woman/mother, not her actual name. The question of how many of these keris could have been made in Empu Sombro's lifetime is one i am afraid i...

I believe that Detlef is most probably correct. What you see on this blade is probably caused by the quenching of the blade. Here is a railroad spike that i forged into a dagger that has a similar...

That's always a very difficult question, especially with this type of keris because it has very very stylistic indicators. Your keris does seem to present itself as being very old just from the...

I second what Alan stated, but will add that it is a very attractive and nicely made example IMO. I'd love to see it cleaned up a bit.

I agree with all here. Hilt may not be "new", but contemporary. As for origin, Jawa, hilt might be East Jawa.

Welcome to the forum Omar.
It does indeed look to be a Keris Sombro, but a hole in the end of the pesi (tang) would be a defining trademark. These are so called after a legendary female Empu (keris...

Thanks Cedric. Is this an exhibition or a sale? If you are not selling the hilts, but just displaying them, feel free to post them in the regular keris forum.

We will have to agree to disagree here Ian. I believe the oldest Moro blades would display "greneng" as all these other examples presented here do show. Detlef's is the exception, but it is not a...

Yes, you will find numerous sources for pamor Aiq Ngelek online. I have no idea if this is a recent name or one that goes back a ways, but most descriptions tie it specifically to keris Lombok. Here...

I do have to say that Alan that it's not necessarily such a simple matter. Rob lives on the east coast of the USA and you can't just run out and hire a mranggi to make you a new sheath. Finding old...

I could be off base as the Moro kris is really only a secondary interest for me (in spite of the fact that it was a Moro kris that indeed started me on my current addiction), but i wonder if this...

It might be helpful if we knew the dimensions here. How long is this blade? Is it bigger than the average Bali blade. Obviously a sarung (wrongko) needs to be large enough to house the blade, but i'm...
