It could refer to any kind of sword be it a Kilij, shamshir, rapier or broadsword. I'm sure two hundred odd...

As an Arabic speaker, I can confirm that, 'saif' (pronounced Seyf) simply means 'sword'. It is possibly derived from the Greek Xyphos. Very nice nimcha BTW. :)

I don't know that much about shamshirs, but that hilt looks Ottoman. So it is either an Iranian blade remounted with a Turkish hilt, or Turkish.

Off the top of my head the only Islamic sword with a name I can think of was one the of the swords of the Prophet Muhammad, which was called Dhu-l-Faqqar. I'm sure there were others though.
