I wonder why we have to guess!
In a culture that was well advanced enough to write and describe the activities of every day life, history and myth, I wonder why we have to speculate so much over...

Interest?
Ah Jens, every edged weapon of any nationality interests me and its only now that I've tried to specialise in Indian items. Still at over 30 tulwars, I think I could claim to have an interest! Its...

It was me
Hi Lew
Ah sorry about that. Most tulwars get spotted on Ebay and get a bit too pricey for what they are at times. This one seems to be one that got away, closed at an odd time or was forgotten by...

Tulwar broadsword??
Hello all
Some of the observant of you may have seen this before but it arrived today and it seems a real oddity.
Rather short at 33" but most usable.
Odd brass open bell shaped pommel, closer to...

He is a interesting guy
Ah yes you guessed right.
I think hes quiet fun as a dealer, as long as you dont put any faith in his opnions, stories or identification and catch him at the right time for price. He seems to be as...

In desperation, hope of identification
I know not really our subject but this one is coming up short on information from first hand dealer inspection or internet searches.
Its a European sidearm, possibly a Austrian experimental 1856...

Chilanum & destiny
In the Summer, I went to London and following useful directions went to Portabello Road market. Here I found a certain Liverpool accented dealer! whose stock I inspected with interest. Out of all his...

Thought I better give the measurements. 36" in total length.
Im still thinking Persian but hope someone will either confirm or say a alternative. That Qajar period is a pretty long dynasty isnt it,...

Interesting shamshir
Hello all
Well interesting from my view, as its the only one of the type that I have and I've not seen that many. It took enough encouragement to get the friend to sell it too but I think worth the...

Cheers
I knew you would have something to say!
Though I might be in the right area with you, as the cut through decoration, especially on the curved one, reminded me a little of that arm guard you...

Two rather nice tulwars
Hello all
Have seen similar in books not any in the flesh....metal so to say! Had to encourage a friend to sell them to me but thats what you have to do.
Blades arent much of a clue, as both seem...

Ah pre-dates Bilbo just a bit
Well it certainly predates the films at least but it is an oddity. As I say, blade looks good quality and right, for a fighting knife. Pommel, which doesnt show well on the photo looks very old, with...

Odd knife
Hello all
Had anybody come across one of these.
Supposedly German and very well constructed. Solid diamond section, leaf shaped blade and wooden handle. Hard to tell age as it seems over cleaned...

Lengths
Total length is 22", with a blade length of 17".
Not sure if the blade has ever been shortend but it does look like it may have been rehilted. Not sure how they usually construct this style of hilt...

Photos dont tell it well
With such a basic style its hard to give the best impression of an item sometimes. This is one of those! So crisply built and with a very usable weight. Looking at the fish and the number. I would...

Why is it assumed that it is a fake?
Whats the difference....as...

Yataghan blades knife
I rather liked this when I found it, being unlike anything else I have but can anyone guess at its nationality. I'm sure the scrip on the blade will be the give away, so if anyone can translate I'd...

From the same source as the last one but very different to any pulwar that I've encounterd. Brass hilt and rather a lot of decoration, along with the odd shape.
Blade also is not the classic shape,...

Seen a bit of work this one and the blade looks like it may have been replaced but certainly not recently. Been trying to clean the blade up, as it seems to be showing faint damascus patterns but...
