.......so what is your explanation of the genuine English Proof marks on the barrel? I find it hard to believe that anyone making pistols for the "Tourist" market would bother to try and fake these....

Very nice pistol but I do have some observations. Although the lock itself may possibly be an original, I do not believe that the Crown and GR look to be the quality of English engraving....

Also on (particularly) Moroccan powder flasks........ The "circle and dot" is not of course just found in North Africa but also on Turkish and Balkan arms, though I doubt your sword is of high enough...

I agree with Ariel that the blade is likely Solingen from where many blades were supplied to Ethiopia. Wilkinson of London also supplied many blades to the region.
