If the end piece of the wooden shaft split or broke they may have inserted a "cap" into the crown at the top.

A couple of relatives. I have quite a few of this size and style. These are the only two with eagle hilts. Dark hilt is horn dated 1940, the light is wood 1930.

Appears totally impractical for liquids as it would pour very badly and need to be tipped upside-down to completely...

It looks to me as though someone has used the centre section of a Naga spear with the hair, re-attached the bottom spike and added the top piece. For use as a rest or crutch ?

An old friend of mine worked on a tea plantation in the 50's for a couple of years. He told me that there was quite a problem with tools going missing for "recycling".

A pair of tips / covers / protectors or just decorations.

When I bought them I was hoping that they may have been for elephant tusk but looking inside there appears to be traces of horn so I guess...
