The hilt and the rings remind me of a South...

The hilt and the rings remind me of a South Indian Temple Sword (Nayar). From what I understand, they often have different blade shapes, although I've never seen one in this style.

That is unusual, I would have thought the wielder's grip would be prone to slipping since there's just one crossbar.

Does anyone have a feel for the age of this item? I have seen a similar example of the form dating from the early 20th Century so that would be my best guess.
