Here are some more close-ups of the links taken from different areas. The first two images are from the inside of the hauberk, the rest from the outside. Perhaps it was turned inside out at one time ?

Probably a red herring, but the carved head is a bit like Inuit work and the twine binding is the sort of thing a sailor might do. Maybe a hunter/trapper's weapon, or a whaler's ??

I think these are of the same "made for sale " genre as other similarly constructed and decorated artefacts from West Africa, as discussed elsewhere on the forum. (spears, knives, covered tins etc)....

Unusual African knife

This knife is a recent find. The blade is well forged with shallow fluting (neads a little cleaning).
