Thanks all for the help.
Detlef Thanks. From looking through old threads and the example in Krieger I had begun to wonder if that handle shape wasn't a cue to date gunongs.

Gunong, goo'na for comment and a lot of questions
I picked this up a couple years ago and have been debating what to do with it. I originally thought it might be a fragment of a broken kris and it was cheap so I picked it up. I am a sucker for...

1) Have you tried acetone as a cleaner? Or is there a downside or chemical reaction I haven't anticipated?
2)Why dilute the acid? It is only 5 or 7% to begin with? Is this to increase the working...

lenght of handle
Keith, the length of the handle appears to be longer than average. The blade seems slender. Which to me gives the impression that this was a stabbing weapon. A long time ago I remember reading that...

I like this sword. A basket hilt is also on my list, if the right one ever presents itself. Very interesting about the French Indian War. There were also many Scotts on the east slope of the Blue...

Seems like a rich man's tool. It is maybe analogous to a gentleman's silver budding knife, if not for the same purpose. Maybe for some sort of pruning? Was there a type of genteel plant husbandry...

An older Colins (1940s) often had a large stamp 1X2" or so from memory on the blade near the handle. The arm logo was part of the stamp. These were produced in the US if I recall correctly. I could...
