From my experience, many of these and Toradars...

From my experience, many of these and Toradars were made using 2-piece stocks on the upper forend, glued with animal glue and covered by a barrel band. Usually the splice was on an angle.

Check to see if there is a hole at the back of the grip. If not a cane gun, it could be an early percussion ‘bicycle’ pistol.

Wonder if there is a hole at the base of the stock. See attached. If not a cane gun, it could be an early (percussion) ‘bicycle’ pistol.

If we determine that ‘leconois’ is lesson, could this be an apprentice’s final build for acceptance into the guild? That may be why those other marks are there, perhaps denoting it was built/proofed...
