Hello,

In the inheritance from our deceased member Robert was this sword found, I have no clue what this sword is nor if it is an original.
I would be glad when you could tell me more about this sword.
Sorry, it's the only picture I have from it.

Hi Sajen,
it is a 19th century neo renaissance sword made to look like a 17th c sword.
They made a mistake in the style as the blade , grip and pommel are that of a sword and the crossguard and its basket resembles a 17th c rapier.
So they combined two different types that did not exist in this combination in the period they were worn.

Blade is wrong - it has no ricasso.
Grip is too long.
Hilt has varying details on the quillon and knuckleguard ends, which is a usual sign of a modern copy.

Thank you both! :)
So it's a historism sword when you understand you correct?

Detlef
