Bugis keris

Any insight into the age and association of these Bugis blades much appreciated; many thanks!

Some nice blades here. It has always been my recommendation that you post one keris at a time for discussion unless you feel there is some specific connection between all these blades beyond their Bugis influence. Posting this many blades at the same time will at best make for a confusing discussion. ;)

Apologies David; lets start with this one then.

Adam, I'm not particularly well versed in respect of Bugis style keris, so my own perspective is inclined to be rather simplistic.
The blade is Bugis style, the age is probably second half 19th century. And there is a lot of supposition in that. It is merely an opinion. There are at least two types of opinion:- opinion that can be substantiated, opinion that cannot be substantiated. My opinion as above is of the second kind. |
