indian otta
 

I was wondering if anyone had a good picture of an Indian otta I would love to see it.

The pics look far too schematic to recognize as representations of real swords. Where is it from?
Also, I never heard the name. :confused: :confused:

The otta is not a sword, it is completely made out of wood. It’s a very interesting weapon in that it is used in kalari to strike the marma points on the body. In the Indian martial art kalari it is the highest weapon.

This is an image of an Indian dagger entirely made from horn (not wood). I always suspected this was made for training purposes but have never come across the name Otta before. The shape certainly suggests South India.

Here's the best I was able to find. Sounds like a very subtle weapon, used to strike vital centers.

Yes I think that would probably classify as an otta. Those small circles most probably correspond to points on the body i.e. the marma points. Does the other side look the same? The person training in Kalari would use that as a tool to learn the points and how to strike them. Nice photo, thanks for sharing it :)

The horn dagger is a Bichwa,look in Stones page 112.:) There's a nearly identical one.
