Sewar reconstruction and restoration 2 Attachment(s) I have purchased this sewar months ago. It had missing parts and rusted blade. It took me long time to obtain this unpretentious result. I hope I will be more experienced next time.... Seller's pics and a photo of the work finished |

Thanks for rescuing this nice piece, Gio! You have a west coast scabbard and added an east coast foot. I'd suggest you keep it for another project and replace it with a simple foot as seen with these west coast scabbards. Just my 2 cents. Regards, Kai |

Re: Missing parts. So, it would not be "too big a deal" to use bone or moose antler to replace a missing buntut, or a missing tip to the "crosspiece" of the "warangka"? [Please excuse me. My choice of words may not be correct]. If bone or moose antler are not really ideal, could a guy get away with using Gaboon ebony, African blackwood, Makassar ebony, [or even ipe, wenge, or zebrawood] instead of buffalo horn? Thank you.
