Ottoman Dagger for Comment

6 Attachment(s)
Hi All --

I recently purchased the pictured Ottoman dagger (these are auction photos, I don't have the item yet). I'm curious about the blade markings. Specifically, what if anything went in the large sockets on one side of the blade? And is the tiger(?) on the other side a marking with known meaning or origin? Plus, of course, any other comments you may have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi,
I'm sorry to say that your bishaq is an early touristy production.
Probably from Istanbul around 1930ties maybe later.
Yours is a copy of an Ottoman Greek dagger.
The hilt and scabbard are cast, no details, the same with the crude decoration on the blade...
Sorry, we live, we learn.
