SHADES OF SHAVER COOL!!!

WARNING !! ... WARNING!! WILL ROBINSON.... ;)
Hullo everybody!

Looks like 'the silly season' is already upon us.:D
I've noticed a surge in these sabres with the ribbed grip and eagle/lion pommel for sale (mainly in Indo, but some outside).
What creates a question in my mind is:'Why does the Museum of the Province of West Kalimantan have a Shaver Cool VOC eagle-head pommel as a display?'
I hope I'm wrong and it's all a misunderstanding.(http://www.indotoplist.com/info/?ZEc...Nad2FHRnNQUT09)

Best,

ADDENDUM: Apparently, there's an M1876 Cavalry Sabre for sale somewhere among the Dutch with its blade stamped (if I remember correctly): A&W Savacool, Soerabaja. Any relation?:)

EEEEEEEEEK!!!!!
Its a time warp.......'and slowly I turned...step by step....inch by inch!!!!!'
You will have to see the 'classic threads' archive under SHAVER KOOL....for the immortal thread that lasted years, beginning close to a decade ago.

As near as anyone discovered, the Indonesian navy had some sort of 'sword of honor' termed 'pedang kehormatan' in one of the final throes of this record breaking thread...........we dont know what ever became of Mikey....possibly the Foreign Legion?

All the best,
Jim

"Don't know much about this sword it came from my great grandads shed.(edit: Must be a long line of teenage pregnancies in this mob!) I did some reseach (edit: Oh really??? ) and its from a dutch trading company called voc which was an acronym for something (WTF?? ). it has nice engraving on the blade and the handle has it also. It also has "shaver cool" engraved on the blade which was apparently common and done by navy boys back in those days.(edit: well, that just explains it all the doesn't it!) but i could not find out much else than that about it sorry guys." ..........so bid with CON fidence!
