Hello,

Here is another recently-acquired barong with intact pommel. A light etch reveals nice lamination.

Early 20th century Tausug?

Thanks,
Emanuel

Great barong with a wonderfully carved hilt and scabbard and no damage that I could see. I would think about polishing the silver ferrule if it were mine. Can you get any photos that show the lamination? My congratulations on a very nice score.

Hello Emanuel,

would second what Robert has said, very nice and complete barung. Would also like to see the lamination. And agree also that I would polish the silver ferrule. Great catch! :)

Regards,
Detlef

Great to see one of these so complete with no damage to the lovely pommel and a complete and well carved scabbard. Congrats!!...finding barongs in this condition is getting is no easy thing!

Nice to have a complete hilt.

This could be a datu working piece with all of the intricate carving on hilt and scabbard.
