Hello dear members,

I wanted to show you this dagger,

looks like an indian curved pesh kabz blade with a renforced tip
but all bronze/brass made so not a weapon...

a monster / makhara ? head ont the basis of the blade .
total length 29cm.

Find its well made,
ceremonial use ?
maybe recent item but didn't find other like that on ebay...

What do you think ?

Kind regards

Hello Franc,

That's certainly a representation of a dagger in its scabbard: The thickening at the end stylistically being a scabbard finial.

While blades for real cutting/poking can certainly be crafted from bronze, this is none of them as you already suggested. I hope our experts for southern Asia will come forward explaining its cultural context!

Regards,
Kai

Sikh Kirpan. lets them satisfy their religious requirement to carry a 'weapon' at all times. Saves hassle from the police.

Thank you Kronckew !!
All day deco kirpan dagger,
Quick done, well done !
So really recent I guess...

At almost 12 inches long, I seriously doubt it is a Kirpan!

Kirpan come in all sizes, from mini you can wear around your neck to full swords.

"The kirpan is a sword or a knife of any size and shape, carried by Sikhs."

Ideally they are made of steel. Brass one is probably not for EDC.

Amazon even carries them, converted into a pair of knockers. :D :p

this one is just a brass bronze deco piece,
hopefully didn't pay that much !!
