Unusual Kukuri like items

4 Attachment(s)
Hi All,

unusual ones here, 12 inch blades and 4 inch handle, sharp on inside of curve

Over cleaned to be certain but cheap, I will not have in my hand for a while but has anyone any idea of what they are?

I am hoping indian but the price will pay for the education anyway.

Regards to all

Ken

Hi Ken. Being sharpened on the concave edge puts them into the sickle-like category, and therefore common to many parts of the world. These both look like everyday tools from the Indian sub-continent, possibly hansia from Nepal/northern India, although other sources are certainly possible. From their appearance, they seem to be village quality work made for local use. Nice ethnographic pieces.

Hi Ian
Thanks for the possible ID, I should have them early next week and will report in.
Seller found them in an old tool chest from a house clearance. Unfortunately he cleaned them but Postage of the 2 items was more than the item cost so I am happy enough
Keep well,
ken
