A pair of silver handled krises

Here is a pair of moro krises for viewing. The top kris has a silver cockatoo with alternating bands of swaasa. The 22 inch blade is probably from the late 20s or early 30s as the ganja is one piece. Most of the silver inlay on the blade is intact. The bottom kris is an early 1900s piece with silver-banded handle and what looks to be the tip of an elephant tusk for a pommel. 23 inch laminated blade with some talismanic?? engraving. Looks to me that there was never any silver inlayed into the engraved circles.....Dave

Both of these appear to be nice Maguindanao pieces. I LOVE swassa! :D

Yeah, what Jose said! :D Great tulip-pommel too - looks like they just used the natural end of an elephant tusk.

Cheers, Thor
