Hello,

sharing this kris made from brass.
My father bought this from an antique dealer here in Luzon and the story he got from the seller is that this particular kris (made from brass)- is either used for healing rituals, against 'evil' elements and or as a status piece.

age: approx 70+ years old.

Note: we also have spears in our collection that are made from brass- for ritual/healing purposes.

What's the story behind the connection between warding off evil and brass blades? I've also seen it among some Luzon blades, people would call it "kontra aswang".

Per the [I]Golden Bough[I], mistletoe must not be cut with iron; the Druids were adamant on this point.

There is a strong connection between iron and magic in many cultures; it's almost as though it might have been universal, but forgotten in these godless times.

Nailing an iron horseshoe to a door was said to repel evil spirits or, later, to bring good luck.
Surrounding a cemetery with an iron fence was thought to contain the souls of the dead.
Burying an iron knife under the entrance to one's home was alleged to keep witches from entering.
