My new sword from Philippines

Hello
This is my last adquisition, with a very interesting price because seller sold It like atrezzo sword.
My first impression was philippine origin and made before WWII.
Any opinions are wellcome.
Thanks

Carlos

Sweet sweeping blade... nice pommel and collar and a very functional guard, congrats.

Hello Carlos,

Very nice and interesting Luzon sword and I agree, it's before WWII.

Great catch, great sword!

I think it is a Tagalog-made blade, likely from Laguna or Quezon provinces; or surrounding areas. The Laguna classification would be "uhas tari" (taking into account that other provinces have different build iterations of such).

Not sure that this hole would be for a lanyard. That's not a Filipino thing.

Agree with Xasterix that this is a Tagalog blade.

Is there merit in the hole being used for wrist wrapping/cord, like some sort of the Munsala/Mansala type cloth specific to the region... seems like a practical thing to have if one was travelling throughout the islands and coastal regions.
