Latest arrival bought via another forum, shabby as all whatever, but at a price I couldn't resist. Sold as a "German made (WK&C) 1876 pattern Dutch cavalry officers sword" which is just what it is. Very light compared to British and French examples, but following the Hungarian model of light fast blades also seen in Italy at this time. It's growing on me so to speak after an initial reception of "oh what have we here"! Peeling plate, stripped shagreen and loose wire, heavy wear, where you would expect it..... but over all, I like it. Just not sure how far to take cleaning and renovation.
