Indian spear

Its been a nice thing in its day . Close plated in silver with gold detail.Any comments on date and place gratefully received

Nice piece, based on these photos it seems 17th to 18th century. It is actually a spear butt. The lance head which had once been part of this would have looked the same in execution, but with a wider tip. Decoration wise I would attribute this spear but to South India or perhaps Deccan.

Thank you for your nice comments. I assumed that the spiky but end was for piercing mail.
