Just bought this one... Could not resist it... Sometimes it is too easy to buy things... 😀Just pushing the button... Hope I didnīt make a fool of myself... 😀 Should be grateful for opinions... These pictures are the only ones I have for the moment.... Lenght around 39 cm...

Best,
Stefan

I love these. Looks like a pattern in the steel, it may be wootz. The large bone(? ) finial is a variation I have not seen in other photos. The horn hilt is exceptionally intact.

Thank you JeffS for your nice words.
Should be great if it should be wootz. I am really eager to get this one home.
I wonder when it could have been made... Any suggestions?

Best,
Stefan

If wootz then 19th century. However I wonder about the hilt and scabbard, they do not show much age with the exception of the bone or ivory finial which has yellowed. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can comment.

It looks like classical 19th century, but only when you have it in hand you can say with more certainty.

The blade may be wootz, fingers crossed.

To me, the ivory chape is a later replacement and it was made for a different purpose.

I have one of these, and they do run very much to a type and are surprisingly uniform. Mine has a small thimble as a scabbard chape.

Thank you very much for your inputs, guys. I really appreciate it.
Now it will be a long waiting before I have it in my hands... :)
It seems that I did not do too bad with this one...:D

Best,
Stefan
