Help In identifying sword and inscriptions

12 Attachment(s)
This sword was found in my late father in laws attic. He was a Col. in the US Army and spent all of his time during WW2 in Europe and Germany. What little knowledge I have, I believe this sword to be an Ottoman Turkish sword. I greatly welcome all your help in finding out what there is about to know about this sword. Also there is script on one side of the blade. Appreciate if someone can translate it for me.
Thank you,
Steve

You have a very nice Balkan yataghan, and if I am reading the date correctly, it would be from 1863-64. These hilts of large walrus ivory slabs with rounded ears were popular throughout the area in the 19th century, but especially during the second half and in the Western Balkans.

Teodor
