A very long standing piece in my collection, this fine old Lurus has always held my interests.

What I've never explored is the translation... can anyone offer insights please.

With thanks

Thank you Amuk.

Do you feel the material supports this date?

Or referring to a point in time? https://www.scribd.com/document/2767...MAJANG-in-1767

I ask as the poor image attached may not reveal much but it is very much this rulers face to me.

Gavin, i think many rulers will have a somewhat similar look. Images i have seen of Paku Buwono VII for instance, has a very similar look to his descendant PB IX.
A possible important element for identifying or dating this could be the the figure of the hilt stands atop a water buffalo. While i cannot add any information based upon this "clue" perhaps others can.
BTW, seems to be a beautiful pedang lurus. Can you show the blade? That might also aid in dating it.
