An unusual utility

I've always thought this to be of Patanni origins, Northern Malay border states.

Does anyone have definitive knowledge as to the origins of this knife.

With thanks

Hello Gavin,

From the single pic, I'd surmise that the turned, ebony-like hilt might very well feel at home throughout the northern Malay peninsula, indeed. Simple EDC knives may offer very limited hints on their origin though...

Did you ever tried to etch this blade?

Regards,
Kai

Thanks for coming in there Kai.

I've not tried to etch the blade... looks plain beneath the patina.

It does have great distal taper and very robust... a simple and very effective 8cm long blade that's 5.7mm thick and coveted enough to dress in simple silver.

Gavin
