1082 - Modern Nepalese Khukuri (Kukri) with Horn Grip and Leather Sheath

This handsomely made modern khukuri (kukri) features an 11 inch (28 cm) long single edged blade with a plated finish in good condition and only minor scuffing. The blade is quite robust with a thickness of 0.4 inch (1 cm) opposite the cho that carries forward a third of the distance beyond the forward turn of the spine before tapering to the point. The spine has a low midline ridge. The massive nature of the blade is reflected in the overall weight of 39½ ounces (1123 grams). Two scribed lines follow the spine in the portion of the blade near the hilt, merging where the spine of the blade turns forward. There is then a fuller tracking the spine for the majority of the length beyond this turn. A two character Nepali blade inscription is present in the fuller on one side and there is a crescent moon mark on the opposite blade face. There is a brass bolster, cap and and tang washer. Though a peened tang end is present, the polished black horn hilt scales are placed over a full tang with contoured edges. The scabbard carries two accessory knives finished en suite and is made of wood covered by black leather. A brass tip protector and belt loop are incorporated into the sheath. Overall sheathed length is 17½ inches (44.5 cm).
