1080 - African Tetela Region Kusu or Sungu Tribe Dagger

The 8¾ inch (22.5 cm) long double edged blade has a central mid rib with a spur along both edges about a quarter of the way from hilt to tip. The blade facets are slightly concave with a pair of narrow inscribed lines tracking one edge on each side. The surface is mixed dark patina with some bright iron at high points. A dark wooden hilt has three small copper inserts nearing the blade where it expands to a flatter oval cross section than on the opposite end towards the conical iron pommel spike. There are a few old chip losses from the wood and some forging cracks in the pommel spike. Overall length is 15¾ inches (40 cm) with a weight of 6 ounces (172 grams).
