1068 - Philippine Clip Point Bowie Style Bolo Knife with Sheath

This Philippine Bowie clip point style knife has a 8¾ inch (22.3 cm) long blade with a dull false back edge. Decorative file work adorns one blade face along the spine. There is a short brass crossguard and ferrule and a roughly carved caribou (water buffalo) horn hilt with a brass tang button. A worn but very serviceable fitting leather sheath includes a belt loop that would accommodate up to a 1¼ inch (3 cm) wide belt. There are patches of corrosion on the blade particularly along the spine and at a tip that appears to have lost its acute point. The hilt shows very scant insect damage. Overall sheathed length is 16 inches (40.5 cm) with a weight of 13 ounces (369 grams).
