1066 - Military Style Khukuri (Kukri) Knife with Sheath

The spine of this khukuri blade forms a continuous arc with the hilt up until the very end where the hilt swells. The cutting edge is convex where it forms a pronounced 'belly' and becomes briefly concave at the neck. The iron bolster is integral with the blade though suggestions of a largely ground away weld line may be discerned. Excluding the bolster portion, the blade is 10½ inches (27 cm) in length with a spine that is 0.29 inch (0.73 cm) opposite a rudimentary cho. The blade faces are relatively flat with the bright steel finish focally marred by patchy dark corrosive staining. Simply decorated dark wooden grip scales have been riveted to a full width tang with a curved iron cap at the end of the hilt. An old black and brown leather covered wooden scabbard accompanies the kukri and shows some cracking, scuffing and very focal loss of leather. Overall sheathed length is 16 inches (40.5 cm) with a weight of 22 2/3 ounces (644 grams).
