1061 - Arabian Jambiya with Cast Gray Metal Hilt

The curved 7¾ (19.5 cm) long double edged blade has a raised spine on each face following the curvature of the blade. The blade finish appears to be plated with some corrosive damage and a few dings raising concerns that this may be yet another example of the degenerate modern blade fabrication technique of welding two sheet metal stampings together. The hilt has also been fabricated of two cast halves soldered together and appears to be some zinc or aluminum alloy. The dark brown leather scabbard has been nicely made and shows some evidence of age and wear particularly at the tip where there appears to have been repair. A movable matching leather band may once have connected a strap. Overall sheathed length is 12½ inches (32 cm) with a weight of just under 10 ounces (279 grams).
