1033 - African Masai Seme (Ol Alem) Short Sword with Scabbard & Sling

This Masai seme has a 15¼ inch (39 cm) long double edged blade that slowly widens and then quickly narrows to form a spatulate tip. The thickness of the steel blade slowly tapers from 0.31 cm to 0.23 cm towards the tip with an abraded surface finish particularly from the shaping of the edges. A tight leather grip of tan to brown leather shows a spiral embossed decoration. There are some surfaces losses from the leather and the blade shows patches of discoloration from old rust spots. A well fitting scabbard and strap of red tan leather are included. Overall length is 22 inches (56 cm) with a weight of 16 1/3 ounces (462 grams).
