1026 - Arabian Jambiya Dagger with Silver Decorated Hilt

The hilt of this jambiya dagger is entirely covered by white sheet metal (likely low grade silver on the display face and nickel alloy on the back). The display face has well executed overlain granulation and wire decoration. The back of the hilt has washers around the pins and a worn overlay. A decorated cap overlies the end of the hilt. The curved double edged blade has a raised mid rib on each face following the curvature of the 7½ inch (19 cm) long blade. The blade has a plated finish with scattered corrosion defects most pronounced at the root of the blade. There is no sheath. Overall length is 11¼ inches (28.5 cm) with a weight of just over 7¼ ounces (208 grams).
