218 - African Zulu Knobkerrie Club with Egg-Shaped Head, mid 20th Century

This club is a variant of the Zulu knobkerrie that has a pointed (pear-shaped or acorn-shaped) integral head. The shaft is very slightly bowed and smoothed with a small chip missing where it widens at the end opposite the head. Very narrow cracks are present in the head, running lengthwise with the grain. Overall length is just under 32 inches (81 cm) with a weight of just under 20¾ ounces (600 grams). Lew dated this example as circa 1940s.
